About the theatre
Keeper of the heritage of Aga
The theatre began in 1991 as the district song and dance ensemble, created to revive and preserve national traditions. Its first concert programme took place in 1992; in 2005 the company became a state institution of culture, and in 2009 it became the Amar Sain National Song and Dance Theatre.
Today the company includes a ballet troupe, vocalists and an orchestra of Buryat folk instruments — morin khuur, yatag, limba, the ancient suukha khuur and suur. The theatre brings Buryat culture to the stage, where traditions meet contemporary art.
Our mission is to share national culture and support young talent — to open up new meanings and possibilities through art.
